Comfort sketches

I was working on a mundane uneventful scene in ch49 (top right) when I felt the need to draw some comfort themed sketches taken from much intense scenes in the future. I had drawn some doodles from future scenes according to myself in 2010, scenes that are now in the latest volume. So I thought I’d doodle some scenes from the very far future in the story, uncertain if those scenes will stay as is, or change, which I hope the first is the case.

I was feeling dark and tense earlier tonight but these sketches were a good let out. I used, mixed and matched some references to create these hugs.

In Arabic, the palm of the hand is called “Raha”, which means comfort. I like to pay extra attention to hands and where they’re placed. Specifically with Black whose body was abused and self-harmed for most of his life. White isn’t one for physical contact, but he knew from the very beginning how important it is, as a way to counter all the mistreatment which Black faces.

There are still people (based on comments and messages I receive) who view physical contact between non-couples, a weird thing, and sometimes, for a split second I hesitate before posting intimacy, but then I hate myself for it. Platonic is a beautiful thing and the touch of a helping hand can do a great deal.

Not writing this to justify, but rather to only share <3

PS. I know one of these doodles is way too shocking of a teaser. And yes, it’s a long way from where we’re at now in the story.
